River Bend Industries Adds Advanced Molding Presses to its Fleet

Victor, IA- May, 3, 2017- Quantum Plastics, an industry leader in plastic molding, announced that it has purchased over $1.5 million in new Absolute Haitian injection presses with Yushin and HyRobotics robots.  River Bend Industries (RBI) in Victor, IA will be receiving 5 new injection presses and River Bend Industries in Ft. Smith, AR will receive 1 new injection press to its manufacturing floor.

In the next month, the RBI Iowa location will be adding new 101, 135, 360, 528 and 1100 U.S. ton injection presses with Yushin robots while the RBI Arkansas location will be adding a new 360-ton injection press with a HyRobotics robot.  According to Regional VP of Operations, Bill Collins, “The new machines are replacing aging machines at the RBI locations.  These new presses will allow us to continue supporting our customers in the appliance and recreational vehicle business with modern equipment.”

This is the second largest investment parent company Quantum Plastics has made in its divisions.  March of 2016, Quantum Plastics invested almost $2 million in machines to support RBI molding operations.  Quantum Plastics Chief of Operations, Ron Embree stated, “Our mission is to be an undisputed leader in quality; these new machines will allow us to fine-tune our craft and better accommodate our customers with improved technology and greater efficiency.”   All of the new presses are part of the MARS II generation of energy saving servo-hydraulic line of injection presses from Absolute Haitian.

As a result of the new equipment received at the Iowa facility, Iowa’s Indian Hills Community College as well as a local Iowa high school have partnered with RBI to provide students experience in the manufacturing industry.  “Students job shadow, and work in an apprenticeship program allowing them to experience the latest technology in manufacturing,” stated Bill Collins.  “It’s great to give back and offer this kind of opportunity where we can help to mold the next generation of tool makers and manufacturing engineers.”

The Quantum Iowa location is a key source for appliance manufacturing along with a number of other parts for the consumer, recreation and utility vehicle industries.  The machines and robots join Quantum Plastics’ 30 to 3,000-ton fleet of 300 injection, insert, gas assist and blow molding presses.
